• Jul 05, 2009 · Your pulley is probably just rusted on. The only thing that holds the pulley on is the top nut. The easiest way is to drive the spindle shaft down and out of the pulley and housing. There are no clips holding the shaft to the housing, so you will not hurt anything. I would suggest to use a brass punch so you do not damage the spindle shaft threads.

  • Apr 12, 2005 · Ive been trying for 2 days to remove a stuck idler pulley from a 3/4 shaft on an old horizontal cast Kohler. Unfortunately I cant get my gear puller behind it so i doused it in liquid wrench and stuck an open end wrench on top of the shaft behind the pulley and attached the gear puller to that.
To lock up the motor so I could remove the pulley on my pickup, I did the following. Rotated the motor just pass TDC. Removed the #1 spark plug. Fed a length of rope into the #1 cylinder. I left some rope dangling in the hole so I could remove the rope when finished. Using a breaker bar and socket I removed the bolt holding the pulley.

Dec 05, 2008 · The key does prevent the pulley from spinning on the shaft and, theoretically, should not prevent the removal of the pulley from the shaft (the key should come out too). But its possible that the key has become distorted or is acting almost like a little wedge which is preventing the pulley from sliding off. Lg phoenix 5 recovery mode
